Club Football week 12 review

Lotto Central Federation League

In the Match of the Round GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic continues to remain undefeated at the top of the table with a 5-0 win when hosting Levin AFC at Wembley Park, Joshua Smith netting twice for Athletic. A brace from Melvin Rumere has helped Watson Integrity PN Marist FC win the Manawatu derby over Turbine Residential Ltd North End AFC with the win keeping Marist in second on the ladder. Alexander Electric Napier Marist travelled to take on Isles Construction Massey University FC and went home back to the Hawke’s Bay with a hard fought 2-1 victory. In the final match Napier City Rovers were too strong at Bluewater Stadium for ALH Gisborne Thistle winning 6-0 with the goals all being shared around.

Women’s Federation League

Matariki Friday saw the completion of the Round 1 catch up game between Isles Construction Massey University FC and Team McGhie Football Whanganui with Massey coming through as winners 3-0. Both teams were back in action again Sunday as home teams but it was a tough day at the office for Whanganui as they lost 10-1 to Taradale AFC thanks to four goals from Aleesha Heywood plus doubles to Jamie Evans and Milla Green. In the other match Massey also found it hard backing up as they went down to NP Rangers AFC 3-1 with PN Marist FC having the Bye over the weekend.

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership

The weekend saw seven catch up games played before the competition splits into the top/bottom phase with two being on Matariki Friday. The first was an entertaining match played out between Liquid Beanz Peringa United and TSH Moturoa AFC with Moturoa winning 4-3, Emily Cunningham scoring a consolation brace for Peringa and the other was a 2-1 victory to NPGHS 1st XI over Hipp Accounting Hawera FC with Riley Packman getting both goals for the school side. Hawera bounced back on Sunday and booked a Top 6 spot with a 3-0 home win against O.P.S Ltd Waitara SC with Inglewood AFC just missing out on the Top 6 spot after going down to Kaitake FC 3-1, Rebecca Sumpter netting a brace for Kaitake. The top of the table clash ended with Excel Refrigeration Moturoa AFC winning away at NPGHS 1st XI 10-0 thanks to five goals from Fernanda Toscani and a double from Amelia Riddick. TSH Moturoa AFC also won away at Tungsten Legal Stratford AFC by 8-1 with braces to Nikki Carmichael and Laura Styles. The final match played had NP Rangers AFC win 19-0 away to Bullitt Fabrications Eltham AFC, Reyse Andrews netted five goals, Jennifer Stoiber four, Tiaan Neatherway three plus two each to Ruby Hales and Caitlin Bowles.

Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership

We had a Round 3 catch up game played on Matariki Friday between Smith & Sons Eltham AFC and TMT Building Ltd Moturoa AFC with Moturoa coming out on top 7-0 thanks to a hat trick from Corbin Richardson plus a brace to Cameron Matheson. Only two other games were completed for the rest of the weekend as Atlas NP Rangers AFC won 7-0 at home against Novotel Woodleigh FC after both Devan and Niall Leggett scored twice each. The other match saw FC Western retain the Challenge Trophy 6-0 when hosting KP Joinery Waitara SC, Ethan O’Halloran netted five goals and continues to lead the Golden Boot race on 21 strikes from Niall Leggett on 13. The match on Saturday between Rough Habits Hawera FC vs Premier Heating NPBHS 1st XI was defaulted by NPBHS and on Sunday Smith & Sons Eltham AFC had to default to TMT Building Ltd Moturoa AFC.

Taranaki Men’s Championship

The top of the ladder match was won by the home side Western Autos Moturoa AFC 2-1 over Cunningham Construction Kaitake FC which now sees Kaitake drop from first the third. Millwards Roofing FC Western have moved up into second place with a game in hand after they defended the Challenge Trophy 4-0 when hosting Landmark Homes FDMC Senior Team, Matthew Sanger scoring twice for Western. Spectrum Decorating Services Woodleigh FC got their first points of the season after they won 2-0 away over Trafficr NP Rangers AFC and Mark Frost Electrical Hawera FC won 3-0 at home against Cross Country Rentals NPBHS 2nd XI. In the final match a hat trick from Joel Stewart has helped Inglewood AFC get their season going again as they won 5-1 when Smart Rehab & Physio Peringa United travelled out to Karo Park.

Taranaki Men’s Division 1

The match of the weekend was the top of the table battle at Lynmouth Park between FC Western Flaming Wolverines and Shining Peak NP Rangers Oddbodz which ended in a 1-1 stalemate, the result sees both sides still equal on points at the summit but Oddbodz has a better goal difference by eight. Lautaro Alvarez continues to bang in goals as he netted a triple in Wonder Minerals Kaponga SC’s 5-1 home win over Withers Coachlines FDMC Development Team. Withers Coachlines Moturoa AFC picked up the 4-1 home win against Paul Hamlin Builders Eltham AFC thanks to a double from Ryan Tooley, Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers AFC won 2-0 when hosting Proglaze Waitara SC and the final match ended in a 1-1 draw between Inglewood AFC and McDonalds Real Estate Stratford AFC. 

Taranaki Men’s Division 2

Egmont Texturers NP Rangers AFC continues to lead the pack as they won 5-1 when hosting Rob Mason Electrical Group Woodleigh FC, Mark Gordon scoring twice. Marty Suchy Harcourts FC Western have moved up into second with a game in hand as they won 6-0 at home over Town & Country Foods Waitara SC with Kayden Playle scoring a brace to lead the Golden Boot race. Pipeline Peringa United have gone up into third with their 3-0 away win at Inglewood AFC, Hoai Son Pham scoring two goals. Webber Building Kaitake FC have dropped down to fourth as they lost 2-1 away to Peringa United Socials and in the final game 4U Computer Solutions Hawera FC picked up a 1-0 home win against Stratford AFC.
