Inglewood CC v NPOB Jason Dombroski was the key destroyer for Inglewood in the premier grade match against New Plymouth Old Boys. Dombroski ripped through the NPOB batsmen, taking five wickets, before dealing some massive blows with the bat, clearing the boundary three times taking his team to a bonus-point win. Inglewood restricted NPOB to 154 with Jackson Braddock-Pajo and Jamie Watkins both 35. Inglewood chased the total easily finishing on 157/3 with Jason Dombroski top scoring 41 not out.
NPBHS v NPMU Boys High won the toss on a green, but hard surface and sent NPMU in to bat. At 103-5 after 35 overs Boys High would’ve fancied their chances to restrict NPMU to a below-average total. Some late lusty hitting from new recruit Robbie Yule (51 off 45) saw a 92-run partnership for the sixth wicket with the evergreen Ryan Fleming, who continued his early-season form with a patient 72*, to see them through to a competitive target of 197-7 off their 50 overs. NPMU captain Kurt Leuthart was the only other batsman to make more than 20, scoring 29. Competition leaders Boys High never got going with the bat and were all out for 98 in the 39th over. Oliver Burbidge made the bulk of the runs scoring 36 and Zac Betteridge 20. Best of the NPMU bowlers was Hayden Birss 3-20 and Jacob Leuthard-Richards 2-23.
Woodleigh v Stratford Woodleigh achieved their first win of the season with a win over Stratford. Woodleigh batted first making 190 all out. Josh Quinney and Jared Phillips both scored 54. Luke Gould was the best of the Stratford bowlers with three wickets. In reply, Stratford could only muster 128 with Kayne Dunlop scoring 44. Best of the Woodleigh bowlers was Tyler Slingsby with 3 wickets for 39.
Hawera v FDMC FDMC won the toss and elected to bowl. Hawera got off to a good start with Ngoni Mupamba scoring 52. Robert Northcott came in at number six to score an impressive 114. Shane Speed taking the valuable wickets of Jack Fowler and Robert Northcott. Jack Krutz also took two wickets. Hawera scored 304/7. FDMC went into bat and struggled to get the runs. Jacob Mortensen top-scored with a half-century and Josh Elder 24. FDMC was all out in the 36th over for 153, with Hawera’s Luke Kerehoma taking five wickets.
