Netball: New general manager appointment for Netball Taranaki

The Netball Taranaki Board are excited to announce the appointment of Darleena Christie as the new General Manager for Netball Taranaki.

Darleena is well known in the netball community and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of both netball and not for profit organisations. A passionate netballer, umpire official and coach, she is looking forward to the opportunity to assist with the objectives and strategies that influence the future of netball in Taranaki.

“We are thrilled to welcome Darleena to the General Manager role at Netball Taranaki,” said Brendon Wylde Interim Chair of the Board. “Her vision, leadership, and deep understanding of the game align perfectly with our commitment to grow & develop all levels of netball throughout the region.”

Brendon added: “In the recruitment process, Darleena demonstrated an exceptional strategic vision and a clear passion for the long-term growth of netball in Taranaki. We are confident she will excel in this role”

Darleena joins Netball Taranaki from the South Taranaki District Council where she has worked as their Governance and Support Team Leader and then more recently as their Privacy and Purchasing Advisor. She provides a diverse range of experience in governance and stakeholder management and has built a reputable career as an excellent team leader, building valuable relationships through educating and coaching people.

Darleena has an excellent track record of attracting and utilising funding, which is going to be very valuable as netball in Taranaki continues to grow.

Darleena will officially start at Netball Taranaki as General Manager on Tuesday 1st July 2025.
