Sport, friendly rivalry and a strong social atmosphere will take centre stage when the TET Taranaki Masters Games returns this month.

Most events will take place from 25 to 29 March, with competitions hosted in Stratford, Waitara, Inglewood and New Plymouth.

Open to competitors aged 30 and above, the Games welcomes everyone from experienced athletes to people keen to reconnect with sport or try something new.

People can choose from a wide range of sports, including, swimming, golf, tennis, squash, croquet, table tennis, disc golf, pool, and speed golf.

A new addition this year is netball, adding another team option to the programme and giving more players the chance to get involved.

Sport Taranaki games organiser Lynsay Ireland said the events attract people who enjoy both the competitive and social sides of sport.

“The TET Taranaki Masters Games is a great chance for people to reconnect with sport, try something new, or just enjoy some friendly banter,” said.

“There is a really good mix of sports this year. Some people will be chasing a medal or a personal best, while others are there to be active and enjoy the social side of the Games.”

Events will be held at venues throughout the region, with Stratford hosting several competitions during the week. Each sport has its own competition format and age categories.
