Football: Clean sweep for Rangers on finals day

New Plymouth Rangers enjoyed a dominant Central Football Taranaki finals day on Saturday, collecting three trophies as the men’s club season wrapped up at Stadium Taranaki.
Rangers won the Duff Rose Bowl, Nimmo Cup and Masters Cup, while Stratford claimed the Division 3 Cup during a busy day of finals.
The Oddbodz successfully defended the Duff Rose Bowl after coming from behind to beat Inglewood 3-1.
Inglewood took a 1-0 lead before Rangers responded with three goals to secure the trophy for the second consecutive season.
There was considerably more drama in the Nimmo Cup final, where Rangers Old Boys and Moturoa could not be separated after two hours of football.
The teams were locked at 1-1 following 120 minutes, forcing the final to be decided from the penalty spot.
Rangers eventually held their nerve in the shootout, winning 5-4 to claim the cup.
One of the highest-scoring matches of the day came in the Division 3 Cup final, where Stratford edged Kaponga 4-3 in a seven-goal contest.
The result gave Stratford some silverware to finish its season after an entertaining final between the two sides.
Rangers completed their successful day in the Taranaki Masters Cup final.
NP Rangers Masters scored four times on their way to a 4-2 victory to secure the club's third trophy of the day.
The finals brought together teams from across the region at Stadium Taranaki and marked the conclusion of Central Football's men’s Taranaki competitions for the season.
The women’s finals will take centre stage at Stadium Taranaki on Sunday, with the region’s remaining cup titles to be decided. Details of the matches will be posted below.
