Juniors ready to win

This weekend 30 Taranaki junior tennis representatives will be competing in the annual central quadrangular tournament. The age groups being represented are the under 12s, the under 14s and the under 16s The other three teams in the quadrangular will be Hawkes Bay, Manawatu and a combined Whanganui/Wairarapa team. 

The under 12 girls will be Hannah Crawford, Lili Lay, Viv Benton, Disha Khanolkar and Gracey Edgecombe. The under 12 boys are Henry Moffat, Jae Lallu, Tiago Shaw, Thomas Kerr and Luke Barrett. 

The under 14 girls are Abby Ross, Lottie Moffat, Emma Roberts, Olivia Pennington and Greer Upson. The under 14 boys are Daniel Lewis, Tomi Avery, Oliver Kerr, Fletcher Gordon and Taj Lallu.

The under 16 girls are Derryn Fleming, Taylor Mitchell, Nicole Kowalewski, Jorja Symes and Alex Macesic. The under 16 boys are Will Roberts, Jordan Whittleston, Joshua Pennington, Lachlan Tong and Dylan Benton. 

Last year, Taranaki finished a creditable second and will be looking to go one better this season. All the players have been part of some Lions Foundation sponsored coaching, which should see them better prepared. 

The coaches travelling away with the team are Ghislaine Brian and Brett Bennett, who are both keen to support these young players to play their best tennis.
