Men's Lotto Central Federation League

The Lotto Central Federation League is starting to get into full swing and in Round 3 both our league leaders got tight wins to remain equal on the top of the table. Alexander Electric Napier Marist had the week off with the Bye but will be desperate to get back out on the grass and start collecting points this weekend against Massey. Round 3 saw some teams continue to struggle to gather momentum with a gap now forming between the top and bottom teams which means points are crucial as we head into Round 4.

Women's Federation League

It was a weekend for the visiting teams in the Women's Federation League, with both Football Whanganui and Moturoa doing a smash and grab of three points from their respective hosts. With the travel between Taradale and Moturoa being quite a hike, the match between the two teams was played at Palmerston North's Memorial Park, with Taradale being the 'home' team in this instance. With both sides sitting at the top of the table, it was a chance for Moturoa to pull away and put some space between themselves and their opposition. Prolific goalscorer Fernanda Toscani proved the difference, giving her team the lead in the 43rd minute, a goal that ultimately would secure Moturoa three points and put them five points clear at the top of the table. Meanwhile across town at Massey University, the students hosted the visiting Football Whanganui team, who had yet to record any points of their own. The game was hotly contested, with  20th and 36th-minute goals to Vanya Apiata-Hodgkinson giving the visitors a good lead going into the break. However, Massey put the pressure on and pulled one back in the second half, with a beautifully placed shot from distance looping over the Whanganui keeper's head. Unfortunately, that was all the home team were able to mount, as the visitors held on and ground out the final minutes of pressure to bag themselves the win, and move themselves off the bottom of the table.
