Primary players enjoy tennis champs

A great day was had by all the students on Wednesday at the 2020 primary schools Taranaki Tennis Championships.

More than 50 students from around the province competed in the event.

In the year 6 and under girls event, Viv Benton came out on top, beating Asha Lallu in the final.

In the year 6 and under boys Luke Barrett managed to edge out Thomas Kerr in a super tie break to claim the title.

In the year seven and eight girls Emma Roberts was too strong for the field, winning against Lili lay in the final.

The year 7 and 8 boys was a tight run affair with Jae lallu just proving too strong for a fast-finishing Henry Moffat.

All of the finalists will now move on to the central finals to be played in Palmerston North on Wednesday, November 18.

The trophies were presented by top junior Diego Quispe-Kim, who has recently moved to the province.
