We’re halfway through the season and it’s Havelock North Wanderers that lead the way by 5 points with an unbeaten record. They won 4-1 on Sunday away at Waikanae Beach Top10 Gisborne Thistle with two goals to Jerome Groot. Isles Construction Massey University FC still run in second but have lost further ground when they were held to a 3-3 draw by GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic but it was Massey who had to scramble back from 3-1 down to rescue a point, Ryan Holden got a brace from the penalty spot for Athletic. Watsons PN Marist occupy third on the ladder after winning in style on Saturday 10-1 over Peggy Gordons NP Rangers, doubles to Jonathan Steele and Jordon Joblin-Hall with Nicholas Carrick netting a hat trick to now lead the Golden Boot race on 10 strikes. The final match was played on Sunday as Alexander Electric Napier Marist hosted Turbine Residential Ltd North End and it was the visitors that walked away with the 3-2 win thanks to a brace from Michael Sheridan. Levin AFC had the Bye and start the second half of their season by hosting Whanganui next weekend.
Women’s Federation League
Team McGhie Football Whanganui have won their first game of the season 2-0 against league leaders OneStaff PN Marist. This means Marist have lost their game in hand advantage over Taradale AFC at the summit who had the Bye and now only lead Taradale on goal difference after we have reached the halfway point in the season. The other match between Isles Construction Massey University FC and NP Rangers AFC ended in a 1-1 draw which didn’t do either team any good as both had the perfect chance to claw back some ground on the two at the top.
Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership
Rampage Fitness FC Western have retained the Challenge Trophy with a 4-0 win when hosting Peringa United and continue to lead the ladder with a 100% record at the halfway point of the season, Ethan O’Halloran bagged a triple. TMT Building Ltd Moturoa are still in touching distance when they continued their great form winning 4-0 at home over Cross Country Rental NPBHS 1st XI, braces to Hayden Murray and Oliver Hill with Hill extending his Golden Boot lead to four goals on 18 total. A Ryk Ferguson first half hat trick saw Smith & Sons Eltham win at home 4-1 over Inglewood AFC. Cunningham Construction Kaitake got the 6-0 away win at Atlas NP Rangers with Paul Cunningham napping a double and in the final game Proglaze Waitara were too strong for Novotel Woodleigh winning 5-1, Brock Wilson getting two goals.
Taranaki Men’s Championship
There was a top of the table clash to end the first half of the campaign and it was Millwards Roofing FC Western that won 2-1 over Peringa Pirates to kept FC Western’s 100% record going after 9 rounds. Western Autos Moturoa are still in third after Dylan Coutts scored both goals in the second half to give them the 2-0 win when hosting Premier Heating NPBHS 2nd XI. TreeHouse NP Rangers got the 6-4 victory over Kaitake thanks to a four-goal haul by Jonathan Martin who is now joint leader with Brad Hickling in the Golden Boot race on 13 strikes, Chester Oldfield and Francis Harris both got consolation braces for Kaitake. The last two games were both hard fought 1-0 results with Inglewood winning away at Paul Hamlin Builders Eltham after a 88th minute winner by Elijah Short and Rough Habits Hawera won at home against Spectrum Decorating Services Ltd Woodleigh.
Taranaki Men’s Division 1
In the top of the ladder clash between the two unbeaten sides it was NP Rangers Oddbodz that came out on top over Withers Coachlines FDMC Senior Team in a tight battle 1-0. Jeremy Radich banged home six goals to now lead the Golden Boot race on 12 for McDonalds Real Estate Stratford as they won 8-0 over Withers Coachlines Moturoa to move up into third on the table. Wonder Minerals Kaponga had a solid 5-2 win away at Mark Frost Electrical Hawera with Daniel Gut scoring a brace. The final match saw KP Joinery Waitara win 3-0 at home against Landmark Homes FDMC Development Team and Smart Rehab & Physio Peringa had the Bye.
Taranaki Men’s Division 2
Taranaki Thru tubing continues to lead the way at the summit after winning again this time 5-2 over Vertech NZ Kaitake HB’s with Dean Cumberledge netting a triple for Rangers and Richard Kurta getting a double for Kaitake. Marty Suchy @Bayleys FC Western have hung onto the Challenge Trophy after coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 when hosting Pipeline Peringa. Braces to Luke Snellgrove and Brody Savage have helped Stratford win 4-1 away at Town & Country Foods Waitara, the final game saw Taranaki Tyre Torque Woodleigh win 2-1 against 4U Computer Solutions Hawera and Inglewood had the Bye.
Tungsten Legal Women’s Premiership
New Plymouth Girls’ High School have managed to hang onto the Challenge Trophy again this time by 2-0 when hosting NP Rangers with Eva Hilliam getting both goals. Excel Refrigeration Moturoa are still the side to beat for the title after they won 17-0 away at Worley Woodleigh with Fernanda Toscani the main scorer with 10 goals to now have a solid lead in the Golden Boot Race on 38 goals. Hipp Accounting Hawera are in second on the table after they won 15-0 over Tungsten Legal Stratford, Janelle Wright scored a five goal Glut and Rachel Porteous a four-goal haul. Five goals to Adelaide Campbell and three to Carla Kennedy saw Inglewood win 12-0 at home over Eltham and in the final match a close battle ended 4-3 in the favour of Liquid Beanz Peringa when they travelled to take on Naki Electrical Waitara.
