Havelock North Wanderers had to work hard to take all three points when they hosted GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic on Saturday. After both teams exchanged early goals the winner was scored by Oli Chapman in the 34th minute to claim the 2-1 win for Havelock as they continue to lead the pack by three points with a game in hand. Watsons PN Marist have moved up into second on the table after defeating Isles Construction Massey University FC 7-2 and leap frogging them on table. Joseph Freeman got a consolation brace for Massey while doubles were also score by Luke Palfreyman and Nicholas Carrick for Marist with Carrick now leading the Golden Boot race by four goals with 16 strikes for the season. The final match played ended in a 2-2 draw between levin AFC and Alexander Electric Napier Marist with Jesse Skinner netting twice for Levin. The point was enough to lift Napier Marist off the bottom of the table and into eight Place above Peggy Gordons NP Rangers who defaulted to Waikanae Beach Top10 Gisborne Thistle with Thistle close to locking away a top five finish on their return to the league in 2021. Turbine Residential Ltd North End had the Bye and remain in sixth on the table as they tackle Massey this weekend in the local derby.

Women’s Federation League

We finally had a completed round in the Women’s Federation League for the first time in a few weeks. In the top of the table clash it was Taradale AFC that came through with the 4-1 win over OneStaff PN Marist with Cara O’Neill bagging a brace to now lead the Golden Boot table by one goal on 12. The win gives Taradale a four point lead at the summit but Marist still have a game in hand so this race could go down to the wire. The other match was a tight struggle but a Lilly Dowsing goal in the 36th minute was enough to give NP Rangers the 1-0 win over Team McGhie Football Whanganui at Wembley Park and Isles Construction Massey University FC had the Bye.

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership

Liquid Beanz Peringa travelled to take on Tungsten Legal Stratford AFC and came out 4-0 winners thanks to a double from Ashleigh Day with the win keeping Peringa in sixth. New Plymouth Girls’ High School are now comfortably in third on the ladder after just doing enough to get past fifth placed Naki Electrical Waitara 2-0 with an early and late goal. Inglewood AFC and NP Rangers played out a goalless draw but the point sees Inglewood continue to occupy fourth place on the table with Rangers hanging onto seventh. Second placed Hipp Accounting Hawera had a big 19-1 win over Worley Woodleigh with the main scorers Rachal Porteous netting six and Nicole De Bruyn bagging four. The final match had league leaders Excel Refrigeration Moturoa playing Eltham AFC with Moturoa winning 17-0 with four goals to Golden Boot leader Fernanda Toscani and a hat trick to Kate Phipps.

Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership

Only three matches were played in the Premiership last weekend and all were close battles. Cunningham Construction Kaitake FC won 2-0 at home over Inglewood AFC and Peringa United won 2-1 at home against Novotel Woodleigh. The final game saw TMT Building Ltd Moturoa win 3-0 away to Proglaze Waitara thanks to two goals from Oliver Hill to see him retake the lead in the Golden Boot race on 20 goals. Unfortunately we had Cross Country Rental NPBHS 1st XI default to Rampage Fitness FC Western and Atlas NP Rangers automatically have to default to Smith & Sons Eltham after defaulting their Federation League side.

Taranaki Men’s Championship

Peringa Pirates held onto the Challenge Trophy with a 6-1 win over Spectrum Decorating Services Ltd Woodleigh with doubles to Chad Jones and Matt Sanger. A hat trick to Spencer Harkness-Gower has seen his side win 5-1 away at Kaitake FC to remain in fifth on the table. Rough Habits Hawera have won 5-0 at home against Western Autos Moturoa to leap frog them into third on the table, William Van Kerssen netting three and Dean Superfine two. TreeHouse NP Rangers had a big 11-1 win away at Paul Hamlin Builders Eltham, James Grieve bagging a hat trick with braces to Adrian Wright and Jonathan Martin. The final match saw Millwards Roofing FC Western win 3-1 when hosting Premier Heating NPBHS 2nd XI to remain undefeated this season.

Taranaki Men’s Division 1

In the FDMC derby for the Challenge Trophy it was Withers Coachlines FDMC Senior Team that won 3-1 over Landmark Homes FDMC Development Team with Josh Goble netting twice. NP Rangers Oddbodz shared the goals around to continue to lead the pack after winning 4-2 at home against McDonald’s Real Estate Stratford with Luke Snellgrove getting a consolation brace for Stratford. Two goals from Daniel Malone helped his side Smart Habit & Physio Peringa win 5-0 away at Mark Frost Electrical Hawera and the final game saw KP Joinery Waitara win 3-1 when hosting Withers Coachlines Moturoa. Wonder Minerals Kaponga had the Bye and are away next weekend against FDMC Development.

Taranaki Men’s Division 2

 

Marty Suchy @Bayleys FC Western have hung onto the Challenge Trophy again this time winning 8-3 when hosting Stratford AFC, John Breen doing the damage again with another four goal haul and now has a 13 goal lead in the Golden Boot race. Two goals from Matt Leana has seen 4U Computer Solutions win 3-2 at home over Town & Country Foods Waitara, Vertech NZ Kaitake HB’s have won 3-1 when hosting Inglewood AFC and the final match has seen Pipeline Peringa win 3-1 at home against Taranaki Tyre Torque Woodleigh. Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers had the Bye but still remain on top of the table.
